How far we have fallen.  This is how advertising used to happen.  Artists commissioned to bring life to products and destinations.   In this case it was James Northfield in the 1930's, hired by the Australian National Travel Association to promote travel to Australian destinations.  Now what do we see?  All I can think of is the campaign "where the bloody hell are ya?". 

Collections of these prints now feature at galleries.  Some like the Northfield Estate are more willing to allow reproductions.  This restored vintage poster of Mornington, a town on the Mornington Peninsula just an hour outside Melbourne in Victoria.

Australian Vintage Posters has lots of James Northfields works, and promise more artists from this era are slowly coming on board to have their works made available to the public again.
